The Romancer by David Coddon
My debut novel, “The Romancer,” is now available in either print or e-version via amazon.com or lulu.com. It’s a work whose origins actually date back to the ‘90s, when I was in love and, at the same time, fascinated with the concept of “limerence” – the euphoric feeling of total infatuation with another person. Originally titled “Limerence & the Art of Love” (I ultimately thought that sounded too much like a how-to manual), “The Romancer” has grown and evolved much as I have. Even so, the mystery of love’s magic and its temporality continue to confound me. I live in constant amazement by it and in insatiable hunger for it. “The Romancer’s” protagonist, Adam Cates, shares these obsessions.
Just published and now available is my new novel, “There and Back Again.” It’s the story of one intrepid journalist whose harrowing experience abroad precipitates her intentional disappearance, and another journalist who surrenders everything, including his heart, in search of her. This book is in a way my ode to the journalism business the way it used to be, to New Mexico, and to love when you least expect it.
